Wild Goose Island

Wild Goose Island is a small spec of land that sits in the middle of St. Mary Lake, creating a beautiful scene within Glacier National Park that artist flock to on a daily basis. It’s not only a great location because of its beauty, but because it’s easily accessible by car and provides interesting scenes from sunrise to sunset.

The scene below was somewhat backlit which was a challenge for a full sweeping landscape image, but was great for creating sparkles of light on the lakes rough waters. So, I put on my 70-200mm lens and cranked it to 200mm, and then focused upon the small island. I included Fusillade Mountain in the background, creating some perspective of distance and space.
